Services

Prior to your initial consultation, you will be asked to complete a new patient information and medical history questionnaire.

Following this discussion and a review of your medical questionnaire, we will undertake a comprehensive examination.

Your examination will include:

  • A soft tissue assessment both inside and outside the mouth.
  • An assessment of your jaw joint.
  • A Complete tooth charting and record.
  • A Panoramic radiograph
  • Intra-oral radiographs
  • Intraoral photographs
  • Diagnostic study models

The most important part of the consultation process is the discussion of your treatment options and the construction of a treatment plan to attend to your needs.

The goal of our consultation process is to develop an individual treatment plan that is consistent with your original treatment requirements and desires. This plan will outline:

The treatment procedures, a schedule of the appointments required and an estimate of fees for the course of treatment.

This process of evaluation and planning will allow you as a patient to make an informed decision related to your treatment.

  • Oral Hygiene and Preventative care

    • Our practice was one of the first practices in the state to embrace the importance of preventative dentistry.

We have a dedicated Dental Therapy and Hygiene Department, which was established to look after and maintain the health of the teeth and gums of our patients. By using specialists in this area, both adults and children are able to have the best possible oral environment essential for the long-term retention of teeth.

The Dental Therapy and Hygiene Department has also played a crucial role in the introduction of stress-free and pleasant dentistry to first-time patients, especially children. We believe it is one of the reasons why we continue to see several generations of the same family in the practice as well as a substantial number of new patients on a regular basis.

We encourage our patients to have regular visits to the Hygiene Department as healthy gums make for healthy teeth and any potential problems are identified early.

  • Porcelain Veneers

    • A Porcelain Veneer is a thin layer of ceramic material that is bonded to the front of a tooth .These veneers are commonly used to adjust the shape, contour and colour of front teeth. It has been shown that a veneer can actually strengthen a tooth when bonded to it. The process is very conservative in that only a fraction of the tooth is prepared to accommodate the veneer.

  • Aesthetic Contouring of teeth

    • It is often possible to reshape worn or chipped front teeth to improve their appearance. This procedure is relatively simple to do and does not usually require a local anaesthetic. The tooth is not weakened in any way as we will only do this when there is an excess of tooth enamel.

  • Smile Design

    • Smile Design Smile Design

Sometimes tooth shape, colour and contour does not quite match the features of a face and smile. Smile design is the art form of modern dentistry where we can build highly aesthetic tooth forms to match the natural features of your face. We want to involve you in the whole process of smile design.

  • Composite Resin (Tooth Coloured) Fillings

    • Composite Resin (Tooth Coloured) Fillings Composite Resin (Tooth Coloured) Fillings

When treating tooth decay, we want to remove as little tooth structure as possible. Composite Resin is a non metal material that can be bonded to your tooth and this allows us to preserve as much of your original tooth structure as possible.

The added aesthetic advantage is that the colour of this material can be matched almost exactly to your tooth. This type of restoration requires a careful attention to detail for success. We have been making these restorations for well over 10 years with excellent outcomes.

  • Direct Composite Bonding

When young people who have not as yet finished growing fracture front teeth playing sport or via other accidents composite resin bonding can be done immediately to reform the shape and give back the natural aesthetic of the tooth as an interim measure.

  • Ceramic Restorations

    • Ceramic Restorations

Sometimes a large part of a tooth requires to be mended, especially when there is much tooth decay or there has previously been a large filling in place. Ceramic restorations are used to strengthen weaker parts of teeth and provide a smooth and well shaped contour for the tooth. The material is tooth coloured to blend in with the existing colour of your tooth.

  • Cast Gold restorations

    • Cast Gold restorations

This is really the gold standard for restorative materials. Cast gold restorations have been used for decades by dentists to restore teeth. This type of tooth restoration provides the most durable long lasting restoration that dentistry has to offer today and does not cost any more than a ceramic restoration.

The preparations for these restorations are the most technically demanding preparation procedures that dentists are required to do in practice today. We do recognise the superior properties of gold, however we balance its use with the aesthetic requirements of our patients.

  • Porcelain Crowns

    • Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are used to strengthen teeth that have been severely damaged by tooth decay or have large fractures. We also use them to mask teeth that are badly stained and discoloured.

These crowns are made of porcelain with a precious metal underneath to provide a high strength. When we use these crowns for front teeth they are made of all ceramic materials with no metal content. This allows for highly aesthetic restorations which allow light to pass through and give a very natural appearance.

  • Bridgework

    • Bridgework is a way in which a missing tooth or teeth can be replaced. A bridge is made by preparing the teeth adjacent the missing tooth space for crown restorations. These adjacent teeth support the bridge which is a series of crowns fused together incorporating a unit for the missing tooth. The bridge is permanently cemented to the adjacent teeth.

Although this is an excellent way in which to replace a missing tooth, often perfectly healthy teeth require dental preparation and today we have the option of using a dental implant to replace a missing tooth leaving the adjacent teeth healthy and untouched

  • Dental Implants

    • Bridgework Bridgework Bridgework Bridgework

Dental implants are an excellent and innovative way in which to replace one or more missing teeth. The procedure for this has been very well studied for a long time with extremely successful long term success rates. We use Dental implants to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, a full jaw arch rehabilitation and also to stabilise loose dentures.

  • Dental Silver Amalgam Fillings

    • Bridgework

Dental Amalgam is one of the oldest types of filling material in dentistry. In recent times the composition of the alloy has been refined. Amalgam is one of the most durable direct filling materials available in dentistry. Dental restorations made from amalgam are quite safe, last for a long time and still have a place in modern dental practice.

  • Teeth Whitening

      TEETH!
    • A bright white smile can make you look good and feel great. Many of our patients who have completed the teeth whitening process tell us that the procedure helps them smile with confidence.
    • Teeth whitening involves a process that gently lightens your teeth to achieve their ultimate natural colour.
    • Prior to the actual procedure we like to carry out a dental examination to ensure that the teeth and gums are healthy.
    • You should consider teeth whitening before your dental restorations so that the restorations can be matched to your natural tooth colour after whitening.
    • This process is suitable for most people.
